

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Productive Animal Husbandry Study Association (HSTP) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held the “HSTP Bergerak” event with the theme “Vet Camp: A Day in the Life of a Veterinarian, Veterinarian in Action.” This event was attended by 84 participants from various high schools in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas. The purpose of this event was to introduce the veterinary world and academic life at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM to high school students.
The event began with a talkshow session themed “All About Veterinarian: Introduction to the Veterinary Profession and Its Role in Society” with Dr. Vincentia Trisna Yoelinda, DVM, M.Si. as the speaker. The series of activities continued with material sessions held across six posts, where participants were divided into six groups. Each group was guided by a committee member to participate in the various practices.
In the Poultry Post, the participants were explained about various types of chickens and chick sexing techniques. Meanwhile, the Aquatic Post introduced blood sampling in catfish, as well as information on fish species and fish diseases. Furthermore, the Ruminant Post provided knowledge about cattle, including the types of housing, cattle anatomy, types of feed, pulse checking, and handling and restraint techniques. Next, the Non-Ruminant Post discussed about horses, including handling techniques and types of horse feed. Additionally, there was the Physiology Laboratory Post, which explained the function of the lab along with introductions to laboratory tools, provided information on the respiratory system in fish, and tested CO₂ levels in water. At the Parasitology Laboratory Post, participants were given knowledge and awareness about various livestock parasites, diseases, and their impact on humans.
The event continued with a quiz to assess the participants’ understanding of all the materials presented throughout the day. The event concluded with an awarding session and group photo. We hope this event provides great benefits for the development of knowledge, especially in the field of veterinary medicine in Indonesia.
The HSTP Bergerak event held on Sunday, May 5, 2025, was also in line with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 3, 4, 10, and 17: Good Health and Well-being through improving human welfare via animal health; Quality Education by providing education and knowledge about veterinary science; and Reduced Inequalities by opening the HSTP Bergerak 2025 to high school students regardless of their grade level. Furthermore, it support point 17 Partnership for the goals because there are many parties involved and opening a huge chance of networking during the event.
