Yogyakarta, October 27, 2026 — The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Farewell Ceremony for Postgraduate Graduates Period I of the Academic Year 2026/2027 on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The ceremony took place at the FKH UGM Auditorium, a day before the university graduation procession at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. This momentous event marked the culmination of years of rigorous study and research by the graduates, whose work contributes significantly to national development goals, including food production, food security, and affordable medicines.

The ceremony was attended by the Dean, Vice Deans, heads of study programs, lecturers, academic staff, families of the graduates, and invited guests. The atmosphere in the auditorium was filled with pride and joy as the graduates were officially released to contribute their knowledge and expertise to society and the nation. In his remarks, the Dean of FKH UGM expressed his appreciation for the extraordinary achievements attained by this period’s graduates and reminded them of their moral responsibility as veterinary scholars.

An extraordinary achievement was recorded at the Doctoral (S3) level. The Doctoral Program in Veterinary Science graduated 4 new Doctors, three of whom achieved a perfect Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00 with the honors predicate (Pujian). They are Wa Ode Santa Monica, S.KH. (NIM: 21/491032/SKH/00139), Junianto Wika Adi Pratama, S.KH. (NIM: 22/495623/SKH/00142), and Aji Winarso (NIM: 22/500091/SKH/00146). This remarkable feat demonstrates the high quality of doctoral education and research at FKH UGM.

The title of the fastest graduate at the Doctoral level was achieved by Wa Ode Santa Monica, S.KH., with a highly efficient study period, starting from February 7, 2022, until her graduation on July 31, 2026. Her research is expected to contribute to the advancement of veterinary science, particularly in areas that support food security and the safety of animal-derived food products.

At the Master’s level, the Master of Veterinary Science Program graduated 9 new Masters. Brilliant achievements at this level were attained by Anisa Putri Aviana (NIM: 25/562901/PKH/00928), who achieved the highest GPA at the S2 level of 3.99 with the honors predicate, and Desriwan Angga Putra (NIM: 24/551459/PKH/00900), who became the fastest graduate at the Master’s level with a short study period from February 1, 2025, to September 14, 2026 (less than 2 years), while also achieving a GPA of 3.98 with the honors predicate.

These achievements are closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of food production and food security. Veterinary graduates play a crucial role in ensuring the health of livestock, preventing zoonotic diseases, and improving the productivity of animal husbandry, all of which are essential pillars in guaranteeing stable and sustainable food production for Indonesia’s growing population.

Furthermore, the veterinary profession contributes directly to the availability of affordable medicines. Through research in pharmacology, vaccine development, and veterinary pharmaceuticals, graduates of FKH UGM are expected to help reduce the cost of disease control in livestock, which ultimately lowers food production costs and makes animal protein more affordable for the community.

Education for sustainability is also at the heart of this graduation. The postgraduate programs at FKH UGM instill not only scientific excellence but also a commitment to sustainable practices in agriculture, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship. The graduates are equipped with the knowledge and values needed to become agents of change who promote sustainable development in their respective fields.

The Dean emphasized that quality education, as reflected in the achievements of these graduates, is a fundamental pillar of the SDGs. FKH UGM remains committed to improving access to high-quality education and producing graduates who are competitive at the global level while remaining grounded in local needs and values.

The event concluded with a prayer, congratulations from the faculty leadership, and a symbolic release of the graduates. With this graduation, FKH UGM has once again affirmed its position as a leading institution in veterinary education in Indonesia, dedicated to producing excellent human resources who will advance food security, public health, and sustainable national development.
