Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta – During the even semester break, some first-semester students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) participated in a six-day PKV (Intro to Veterinary Profession) program at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) in Gondo Wulung, Bantul Regency, from December 22 to 27, 2025. This program aims to provide students with firsthand experience in the professional settings and the role of veterinarians in various working fields. Through this program, students can hone their skills, broaden their horizons, and understand the dynamics of real-life veterinary practices.
During PKV activities, students learned about how to check animal health, how to administer vitamin and medication, grooming, animal handling, and evaluation of animal husbandry management within the Gondo Wulung Mobile Brigade Corps. All activities were carried out under the supervision of professional vet, Rahayu, DVM, the supervisor.
The Gondo Wulung Mobile Brigade Corps expressed its full appreciation for the implementation of the PKV activities by the UGM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine students. This activity is considered to have made a positive contribution in supporting the efforts to maintain animal health and welfare, while also serving as a learning tool for students in the future when they enter the professional veterinary field. PKV activities also support SDGs point 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDGs point 4 (Quality Education), SDGs 15 Life on Land, and SDGs point 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
