Department of
Profile
Department of Biochemistry is one of departments at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada. Department of Biochemistry is a frontier department that can lead students to understand basic knowledge and skills in the field of Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Biotechnology and One helath/Eco Helath.
Department of Biochemistry emphasizes the importance of understanding the basic concepts as part of the basic knowledge (hard skills) and the methods or skills that must be possessed to be able to collaborate across sectors through system thinking, transdisciplinary, participatory leadership, management, communication, culture and belief, gender and equity, sustainability and knowledge into action.
There are several regular training about Biochemistry and Molevular Biology for example Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) training, Electrophoresis DNA, anad Protein, etc.
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology laboratories are also involved in seminar activities and there is collaboration between other departments, across faculties, across universities in this country and abroad.
Department of Biochemistry also take apart in several services at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada for Bird Sexing and the other services in Molecular Biology field.

OneHealth/EcoHealth is an approach that presents an understanding and improvement of health as an outcome of a very complex relationship between social change and the ecosystem; animal health; and human health (Ecosystem Health-Animal Health-Human Health). One health and ecohealth learning emphasizes the importance of understanding the basic concepts of health as part of the basic knowledge (hard skills) and the methods or skills that must be possessed to be able to collaborate across sectors to deal with complex health problems such as emerging infectious diseases, re-emerging infectious diseases and zoonoses through system thinking, transdisciplinary, participatory leadership, management, communication, culture and belief, gender and equity, sustainability and knowledge into action. In today's global era, everyone is concerned with health in a broad sense as sustainable health. If we are aware of this then we must respect everyone, both present and future generations and moreover, One Health/EcoHealth emphasizes respect for all life to see more from the ecosystem while One Health emphasizes human well-being which includes physical, mental and social excluding freedom from zoonotic diseases.

Course code: KHU 3054
Credits: 1/0
Semester: 6 / Even
Classification: Elective
Prerequisite:-
Extension science itself is a new science which is currently still in the process of growing to find a form that suits the current situation. This elective course is a step forward for the faculty to better prepare prospective veterinary students for the world of work.
Extension knowledge will be very useful for veterinarians who work in various fields that require the ability to prepare an activity program and understand the delivery techniques. In this course, students are given an understanding of the importance of animal husbandry and animal health education in developing the field of animal husbandry and animal health. Things that must be considered, prepared and steps that must be taken in delivering an innovation.
