On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Productive Animal Husbandry Study Association (HSTP) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held the “HSTP Bergerak” event with the theme “Vet Camp: A Day in the Life of a Veterinarian, Veterinarian in Action.” This event was attended by 84 participants from various high schools in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.
The Grand Launching of the Student Organizations of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (KM FKH) Universitas Gadjah Mada is an annual event aimed at introducing various student activity units within the Faculty, as well as officially inaugurating the new management and presenting work programs for the upcoming term.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, a Study Visit to Faculty of Engineering UGM was held at the Department of Geological Engineering UGM by the Veterinary Science Club (VSC) Network Department of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM together with American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) FT UGM. The Study Visit itself is an annual work program carried out to expand the relationship of VSC members not only within the scope of the faculty but also throughout UGM area.
The Wildlife Study Club (KSSL), a student activity unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FVM UGM), organized a workshop titled “Workshop on Preparing Your Manuscript Targeting High-Impact Journals” on Saturday and Sunday, February 22–23, 2025, at Seminar Room 2, Building V4, FVH UGM.
The 2024 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition team of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) under Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (ONMIPA) community of UGM won 5 awards in the 2024 national Bioinformatics and Synthetic Biology (BIOS) competition by Synbio.id.
ational Zoology Olympic (OZON) 2024, with “Reptile Resilience: Harnessing Adaptive Abilities in A Changing World” as the theme, was successfully held. This prestigious competition for high school students all over Indonesia attracted one hundred teams.
W (19th), a second semester student said, “This is very beneficial for students, especially those who live in boarding houses, it saves money. Apart from that, it also helps not to think about what to eat later because the breakfast already provided by campus. So, it helps us be more focused while doing the exam.” W also said that what the campus prepared was better than what students usually consume at breakfast.
The initial aim of holding this free breakfast was also an effort to ensure students get good nutrition, especially during exams. The breakfast provided contains carbohydrates, protein and vegetables. This is in line with the second sustainability goal or SDGs, namely No Hunger. Furthermore, providing free breakfast during exams is in line with efforts to improve the quality of education with adequate nutrition.
This free breakfast program covers more than 900 students from all classes (including lecturers and exam supervisors) over a period of 4 days. It is hoped that the results of the Mid-Term Examination will be better as students’ health improves.

This bazaar and social service aims to prosper local MSMEs and FVM partners. The prices of the products sold at this bazaar are quite affordable so they can be enjoyed by all groups. The organizing committee, members of the Dharma Wanita Association, also provided low-price food supplies in the form of omega eggs, wheat flour, oil and rice. Prices range from 8,000 thousand rupiah to 10,000 thousand rupiah only.
The head of the Dharma Wanita Association, Mrs. Yulaeni Teguh Budipitojo, said that after this bazaar takes place, income from donors will also be given to retired workers, educational staff who are experiencing sickness and difficulties, and families in need. After that, they will visit social institutions (orphanage, nursing home, etc) in Yogyakarta.
The social service event began with a symbolic distribution of basic necessities to cleaning service staff and non-civil servant workers. There were more than 50 basic food packages given to full-time and contract employees as well as cleaning service personnel at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM.
This event is also a gathering place for alumni to mingle, shop, or open a stand on the campus. Even though it rained in the morning, the event continued smoothly and lively.
This Ramadan bazaar and social service event supports the values of SGDs (Sustainable Development Goals), namely SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: No Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SGD 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

On Friday, March 1st 2024, Faculty of Veterinary Meidicine UGM and Yamaguchi University renewed their collaboration agreement in the academic field. On this occasion, five delegates from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and Yamaguchi University visited Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, namely Prof. Hiroshi Sato, DVM, Ph.D., Masayasu Taniguchi, DVM., Ph.D., Dr. drh. Maiku Abe, Ph.D from Yamaguchi University, and Prof. Takeshige Otoi, DVM., Ph.D. from Tokushima University. Apart from signing the MoU, Prof. Hiroshi Sato also presented the collaboraton theme entitled Improving Cattle Breeding Management for the Well-being of Farmers.
After the MoU signing ceremony, a public lecture was held at 09.00 am. Speakers at the public lecture included Prof. Takeshige Otoi, DVM., Ph.D. which carried out the title Development of AI (Artifical Intelligence) Based Method for Diagnosing the Right Time for Insemination in Cattle, and Masayasu Taniguchi, DVM., Ph. D. which carried out the title Estrus Synchronization Protocol and Results on Beef Cattle at Gunungkidul Regency. The event was attended by approximately 89 participants, namely students of the veterinary profession, and employees of the Livestock and Animal Health Service, the Food, Agriculture, Maritime and Fisheries Service, and the Agriculture and Food Security Service. This public lecture explains more effective techniques for inseminating cattle at the right time, and the results of synchronizing estrus in beef cattle in the Gunung Kidul area.Tags: public lecture, Cooperation agreement, cow insemination
