Fun With Ruminant 2025, a work program from the Ruminant Division of the Productive Livestock Study Association (Himpunan Studi Ternak Produktif) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada, was held on Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Fun With Ruminant this year was held face to face under the theme “Clinical Art in Handling Abscess Diseases in Ruminants”. This event took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM and was attended by 36 participants from the internal circles of HSTP and the Student Family (KM) of FVM UGM. By featuring Taufik Mukti, DVM as the speaker, this event lasted for approximately four hours and was divided into two sessions: a material delivery session and a suturing workshop session. This activity aims to enhance knowledge related to abscess diseases, especially in ruminant animals, and to provide training on suturing techniques for abscess wound areas.

The Fun With Ruminant workshop this time is about suturing techniques for abscess wound areas. The workshop session was also guided by the speaker. Participants were divided into several small groups consisting of 3-4 people. The committee provides one suture pad and two needle holders for each group as practice media. Before the participants practice it themselves, the speaker first provides instructions and examples of several stitching techniques such as the simple technique, continuation, and vertical mattress. After watching the speaker demonstrate, participants were given the opportunity to practice the three sewing techniques themselves. Not only that, the speaker also visited each group to ensure that the participants could practice and provide education on the ideal placement of the needle on the needle holder. The participants were enthusiastic about this workshop and are be able to practice the knowledge they have gained in the future professional setting. After the workshop session ended, the event concluded with the handing off plaques and speaker certificates, followed by a group photo.

The Fun With Ruminant event aligns with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly points 3, 4, 10, 5 and 17: Good Health and Well-being through disease control in ruminant animals; Quality Education through the provision of education via seminars and workshops on abscess diseases and suturing techniques for abscess wounds in ruminant animals; Reduced Inequalities because Fun With Ruminant 2025 is open to the Student Family (KM) of  FKH UGM, regardless of semester level, gender, age, or other social status. In addition, the knowledge was learnt to keep life on land healthy and prosprerous. Furthermore, it enhanced partnership for the goals through all the parties involved in this event.
