Sleman, May 17, 2025 – As an attempt to provide provisions to students who will participate in the upcoming KKN-PPM UGM activities, the Social and Community Department of the BEM FKH UGM has held a KKN Basic Training in the Auditorium and UP2KH with the theme “Empower, Engage, Elevate: KKN for Impactful Change”. KKN Basic Training is one of the forms of BEM’s service to prepare FKH UGM students, especially the class of 2022, who will execute KKN-PPM UGM in period II on June until August. This event consists of 3 sessions, material provision, talk shows, and direct practice making of UMMB (Urea Molasses Multinutrient Block).

The first session was provided by drh. Yudhi Ratna Nugraheni, M. Sc., Ph. D., with the material entitled “Strategic Infectious Animal Diseases in Indonesia”. drh. Yudhi explained in general several types of infectious animal diseases that require more attention in Indonesia, how students can compile programs that are correlated with veterinary science and relevant to related problems, and tips for applying the program so that it has a real impact on the local community. Furthermore, the second session was a talk show about the experience in implementing KKN with Bramasta Cahyo Saputra and Nadiva Ayu Anindya Putrianto, where both speakers emphasized to participants to maintain communication as the main key to the smooth implementation of the work program and the entire KKN activity.

The event ended with a practical session on making UMMB for livestock, supervised by the Veterinary Clinical Nutrition Laboratory Assistant. This practical session focused on the use of UMMB as an alternative solution to improve the quality of livestock feed economically and sustainably. It is hoped that students can apply veterinary knowledge to the community in Real Work Lectures and can bring changes that have a real impact in the field.

KKN Basic Training 2025 is aligned with several points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports the goal of ensuring quality education by enhancing participants’ capacities through hands-on training in veterinary science for students. This activity also contributes to the goal of protecting terrestrial ecosystems by promoting animal care practices aimed at sustaining the livelihoods of livestock-based ecosystems. In addition, KKN Basic Training equips students with values of tolerance and community ethics, while also preparing them to build effective partnerships with local communities during their KKN program.

Thus, the implementation of KKN Basic Training 2025 has its urgency as it proves that these activities can have a real impact on sustainable development.
