STUDY VISIT VSC 2025: “Collaborative Innovation: From Observation to Application”

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, a Study Visit to Faculty of Engineering UGM was held at the Department of Geological Engineering UGM by the Veterinary Science Club (VSC) Network Department of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM together with American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) FT UGM. The Study Visit itself is an annual work program carried out to expand the relationship of VSC members not only within the scope of the faculty but also throughout UGM area.

Activities started at 10.05AM by singing Indonesia Raya and Gadjah Mada Hymn and continued with a speech by the heads of each Students Activity Units (UKM). The presentation session began with an introduction from each UKM. The activity continued with sharing between departments for 20 minutes to exchange experiences and stories from each work program. After the sharing session between departments ended, the activity continued with games session, winner announcement, and documentation.

To symbolize the partnership and friendship of this visit, a plaque was handed over to the President of AAPG by the Head of VSC. Then, the long-awaited agenda was the laboratory tour, where VSC members were allowed to see the laboratories in the Department of Geological Engineering UGM guided by AAPG members. At the end of the event, the activity ended with a group photo.

It is hoped that with this Study Visit, students can expand their knowledge upon the relationship between geology and veterinary medicine. Exchanging ideas and opinions, gaining new information, able to bring up ideas for collaboration between geology and veterinary science that support Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) namely SDG 4 quality education. In addition, it also supports SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals. This visit can also improve skills in collaborative fields and strengthen networks between students as in SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institution. This activity is a reminder for students to never give up on collaborative actions in order to preserve nature.
