Peace is a situation that needs to be fought for and celebrated together. Based on this belief, the faculty’s religious Students’ Unit Activity (UKM) (PMK – Christian Students Fellowship, KMK – Catholic Students Family, and KMMV – Muslim Students Family) organized a Social Charity with the theme “Giving Peace” by giving away free food for people in need on Friday, March 21, 2025 around UGM area. This activity is a means for UKMs to be able to serve and share with the community as an implementation of the teachings of love of each religion. In addition, this activity also fosters kinship, togetherness, and tolerance from each religious UKM at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM which is in line with SDGs values such as supporting peace, justice, and strong institutions and can overcome hunger for others in need (SDGs 16 and 2) through food distribution activities.
The total amount of food distributed was 90 pax of rice boxes containing rice, grilled chicken, vegetables, and crackers. The organizing committee ensured that the food distributed was nutritious for the recipients. The food distribution was divided into four routes, namely the Agro route (16 pax), the Engineering route (30 pax), the Gejayan route (22 pax), and the Terban route (22 pax). Each route was led by one person in charge.
All members of the three UKMs were divided into small groups and distributed food according to the predetermined route. Each team that had arrived at the location then began distributing food to people in need, both for people living on the side of the road and several motorists passing by. The Food Distribution activity was carried out from 03.30 to 05.45 PM. At the end, 90 packs of rice boxes have been successfully distributed to those in need.
After that, each team returned to Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM for final documentation.

Peace can come from simple things like food sharing activity. Many smiles and happiness from the community can be cherished through the celebration of God’s blessings in the form of food. The committee learned that serving and loving others can start from small things like sharing. This activity can be held regularly and annually so that peace, including peace from being free from hunger, can be felt by the community.
