Ramadhan 1447 H, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an ifthar party with all its members on Friday (14/03/2025) at the auditorium. The event served as a place to strengthen the ties of friendship and togetherness among the academic community of FVM UGM.
The event was attended by lecturers, education staff, and student representatives. In addition, FVM UGM also invited Prof. Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M.Agr.Sc. (Dean of the Faculty of Biology UGM) as religious preacher, to give a homily about getting to know animal world through Islamic perspective in which he explained about the creation of nature, genetics, and bioacoustics.
The event was started by a speech from the Head of the Administration Office, Triyanto S. H. He expressed his gratitude to the lecturers, education staff, and student representatives who had attended this activity and for the committee who had arranged the agenda. Furthermore, he explained that a series of activities in the month of Ramadhan 1446 H at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM including: Tadarus (reciting) Al Qur’an (30 minutes before office hours start and during break time), distributing Alms Boxes in each Department and work unit. Later on, the amount from the boxes will be distributed to Contract workers and Outsourced workers. He also said that this event began with the Khatm al-Qur’an (the completion of a Quran recitation), continued with the homily talk from Prof. Budi, then followed by the Maghrib prayer, and last but not the least breaking the fast together.
Prof. Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M.Agr.Sc., opened the homily by explaining about the creation of nature from an Islamic perspective. Allah created this nature not only with beauty, but also with balance and order. Allah also guarantees that anyone who has faith and knowledge will be elevated in rank. The intelligence that exists in humans comes from Allah SWT so that humans should not be arrogant. Therefore, knowledge is used as a means (bridge) to get to know and love Allah more. Learning is not only for the world, but also as a form of worship.
This ifthar party event supports the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 2 Zero Hunger, SDG 4 Quality Education, and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
