Last Saturday (8/9), at the Auditorium of the UGM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, a National Seminar was held entitled Veterinary Dentistry “Basic Teeth and Gums Care for Pets”.
FKH UGM Pet Study Group (KSHK) choose the theme because the aesthetic of the teeth of pets among small animal lovers began to rise even though not many people knew about it. In addition, this topic is really important because animal’s oral cavity health reflects the overall body health of the animal. For example, bacteria found in dental plaque can have harmful effects on the heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver of animals.
About 200 participants ranging from veterinary students and veterinarians from all over Indonesia attended the seminar to learn the new knowledge about dental care. KSHK invited 4 speakers who were experts in their fields and one of them was brought from Brisbane, Australia. The four speakers were Dr. drh. Hery Wijayanto, M.P., Dr.drh. H.R.
