December 17-18th 2018 is a new step for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FVM UGM) to realize their vision and mission to become an International Standard Faculty. During the two days the ASIIN Accreditation team from Germany had conducted a visit to assess the feasibility of the FVM UGM as an International Standard Faculty. The Accreditation Team consisted of 4 representatives from Germany namely Prof. Dr. Tillmann Rümenapf, Prof. Dr. Nicole Kemper, Prof. Dr. Ute Seeling, and Dr. Iring Wasser, and Istiffa Nurfauziah, student from the Bandung Institute of Technology. This accreditation is important to improve the quality of study programs at Bachelor and Veterinary Profession levels.

“We are targeting that the achievement of ASIIN accreditation would be able to introduce FVM UGM Internationally and so be one of the best Veterinary School, at least at ASEAN level”, said Prof. Isrina, Dean of the FVM UGM. Previously, FVM UGM had been accredited A from BAN PT and had received accreditation from AUN-QA, an accreditation body for University in ASEAN.
In this visitation, FVM UGM presents alumni and stakeholders to be interviewed by the ASIIN team. A total of 17 people were willing to attend to be interviewees. They were interviewed to find out the quality of graduates of veterinarians from the Faculty of Medicine UGM. In addition, teaching staff and students were also interviewed to find out about the educational curriculum that had been running so far.

In general, the visitation went well and smooth, there were no significant obstacles encountered. The results of this ASIIN accreditation visit will be officially announced in March 2019. Hopefully the best results for FVM UGM. (MA)
